GORGE
VOID presents
Gorge, part 1 of a collaborative project by Jennifer Mehra and
Tim Maslen, two Australian artists living and working in London.
Woodland, Part 2 takes place in Sydney's CBD during the Olympics.
Gorge/Woodland are ambitious installations that refer to the
symbiotic relationship of Nature and Culture. Gorge is an installation
that aims to transform the space into a fictitious landscape
through which the viewer will pass. Eroded rock faces created
out of layers of books, seemingly jut out of the gallery floor.
Fragile plant forms cast in polyester resin emerge out of the
open pages.
The final image is an optimistic portrayal of the inherent balance
between nature and culture.
