Glimmer
was exhibited as part of a group exhibition curated by Megakles
Rogakos."CHAOS" was an exhibition that took place at
the Bishopsgate Goodyard, a disused railway station, as an alternative
gallery space in the heart of East London. The exhibition opened
on the 12th of July 2002.
For
the exhibition at the Bishopsgate Goodsyard, Maslen &
Mehra have taken over one of the giant arches under the
train line to create a new work. This new work titled "Glimmer"
finds a series of mirror-finish sculptures depicting strange
and exotic plants and figures representing the recently extinct
creatures, the thylacine and the moa. The sculptures are bathed
in a powerful light, which make them shimmer and cast giant
shadows against the crumbling walls like a modern-day cave painting
telling a story.
